Within the Master’s programme in “Comprehensive Regional Development,” the Academy of Public Policy and Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a session dedicated to local governance.

Bekzod Narimanov, Deputy Ombudsman of the Oliy Majlis and Doctor of Law (DSc), met with participants to discuss mechanisms of cooperation between local government authorities and civil society institutions.

During the session:

- the legal and organizational foundations of cooperation with non-governmental non-profit organizations were analysed;
- practical aspects of interaction with the mass media were reviewed;
- mechanisms of engagement with citizens’ self-governance bodies were discussed;
- forms of cooperation with political parties were examined through real case studies.
Particular attention was given to the application of the existing legal framework and issues of institutional coordination.
