During the symposium, it was noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan—based on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to sustainable development—continues to strengthen. Representatives of the Academy presented the experience of the mahalla institution to the international audience, highlighting its role in strengthening social cohesion, preserving national values and traditions, and supporting local economic development.

As part of the symposium program, the Rector of the Academy, Jasur Salikhov, delivered an online presentation.

“The mahalla is not only a historical social institution but also a unique model of community governance that unites people and strengthens civic engagement and mutual support. The synergy of science, practical experience, and international cooperation plays a crucial role in ensuring sustainable regional development. In this regard, the peoples of Uzbekistan and Japan share many common values,” the Rector noted.

The presentation also outlined the Academy’s priority areas, including the training of modern public administration professionals, strengthening the capacity of local leaders, promoting entrepreneurship and craftsmanship in the regions, and expanding international academic cooperation.
