A roundtable discussion was held at the Academy of Public Policy and Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of Professor of Harvard University, Doctor of Economic Sciences Bruno S. Sergi.
The event, organized within the framework of the new “Regional Development” Master’s Program to be launched at the Academy in the 2025/2026 academic year, focused on issues related to ensuring regional economic stability, the effective implementation of digital technologies and innovations, fostering a competitive environment, and improving sustainable development policies — in line with the tasks set out in the Presidential Decree No. PF–78 of May 5, 2025.
During the meeting, Professor Bruno S. Sergi delivered a presentation on economic growth models and innovative approaches to the sustainable development of public policy in the European Union countries. He also shared insights on integrating the “Regional Development” program with international academic standards and provided information on opportunities for independent researchers to publish their scientific articles in leading international journals.
At the conclusion of the event, Ms. Khurshida Makhmadaminova, Director of the Center for Online Education and Distance Learning, noted: “On the eve of the new academic year, this short-term course — aimed at strengthening the harmony of ‘science, practice, and innovation’ and expanding the field of international scientific dialogue — introduced us to the latest analytical and statistical data. The experience of using artificial intelligence technologies in developed countries, from industry to public administration, was presented through practical case studies. This knowledge will be invaluable for all of us in organizing effective work by applying the latest trends in the field of public policy and governance.”
For reference: Professor Bruno S. Sergi is a faculty member at Harvard University (USA) and Co-Leader of the Laboratory for Entrepreneurship and Development (LEAD) in Cambridge, USA. He is the author of more than 30 books and over 200 scientific articles, and serves on the editorial boards of Cambridge University Press and The American Economist journals.
