A meeting was held at the Academy of Public Policy and Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with Mr. Federico Failla, Coordinator for Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, and representatives of the University of Bologna.
The visit took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. The guests were familiarized with the Academy’s main areas of activity — including preparations for the new academic year, modern facilities and learning environment, research priorities, digital infrastructure, and ongoing institutional transformation processes.
Following the tour, the parties held discussions on prospects for mutual cooperation.
The Rector of the Academy, Dr. Jasur Salikhov, emphasized that one of the Academy’s strategic priorities is to broaden the international engagement of civil servants and to create opportunities for them to benefit from European experience and contemporary knowledge.
“The University of Bologna, renowned for its historical traditions, academic excellence, and global reputation, represents a valuable partner. Academic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italy will open a new stage in improving the quality of education, fostering innovative thinking in public administration, enhancing human capacity, and promoting the exchange of research experience,” noted Dr. Salikhov.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to collaborate in several priority areas, including:
- development and implementation of short-term educational programs;
- creation of training courses based on the “case-study” methodology;
- facilitation of exchanges among trainees, master’s students, researchers, and faculty members;
- establishment of online learning/educational opportunities;
- introduction of Italian regional development models, innovative strategies, and best practices;
- organization of “Summer Schools” on topics such as sustainable development, resource management, and the green economy.
