The conference was aimed at advancing reforms in the field of the green economy, studying best international practices, and defining priority tasks for the future.
The event was opened with a welcoming address by Rector of the Academy, Jasur Salikhov. The conference brought together representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, international organizations (UNDP, GIZ, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, GGGI, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and others), foreign experts, as well as national specialists and scholars.
The agenda included discussions on the implementation of green economy initiatives in the regions of Uzbekistan and future plans, environmental management and climate change adaptation, the experience of Singapore, the presentation of strategic initiatives on green economy development in the city of Urgench, mechanisms of green financing and prospects for green entrepreneurship, as well as the role and responsibilities of local authorities in this field.
Within the framework of the event, participants exchanged views on the implementation of regional initiatives, improvement of the legal framework, business development, creation of sustainable business models, and strengthening the capacity of local professionals.
The conference concluded with the presentation of the project “Development of the Green Economy in the Regions of Uzbekistan” and consideration of proposals and recommendations from representatives of international partner organizations.
The conference is expected to contribute to the sustainable development of the green economy in Uzbekistan and to the strengthening of international cooperation.
