The meeting focused on advancing research activities to a qualitatively new level, strengthening integration into the international academic community, and facilitating an open and substantive discussion of current challenges and practical solutions encountered during the preparation of doctoral dissertations.
During the dialogue, researchers highlighted key priorities, including increased participation in international and national academic conferences, the development of short-term research internships, publication of research findings in reputable international journals, and the expansion of academic cooperation with leading universities included in global rankings.
Vice-Rector Raima Shirinova presented a clear and structured roadmap outlining these priorities, emphasizing the importance of active engagement in international grant programmes and research projects, as well as the establishment of sustainable professional links with journals focused on analytical and empirically grounded research.
In particular, it was announced that the Academy will conduct a practical training presentation on the use of the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) international analytical platform, aimed at developing researchers’ skills in selecting appropriate journals, analysing ranking indicators, and building an effective publication strategy in line with international academic standards.
Special attention was also given to the development of academic communication. Proposed initiatives included the establishment of independent speaking clubs by research fields and the organisation of open roundtable discussions with leading national and international scholars. These formats were identified as effective tools for enhancing research productivity and integrating early-career researchers into the global academic environment.
“Today, the language of scientific communication knows no boundaries. Therefore, it is essential to publish research articles in reputable international journals in foreign languages and, most importantly, to be able to actively engage in scholarly debate at the international level within your field of expertise. Overcoming language barriers and not being afraid of making mistakes are critically important. Achieving international recognition for the research outputs and scientific innovations of the Academy’s scholars is a strategic priority for us. I am fully prepared to share all relevant experience and practical recommendations to support this path” the Vice-Rector noted.
The open dialogue clearly demonstrated the Academy’s commitment to fostering a modern academic ecosystem grounded in international quality standards, strengthening research capacity, and enhancing the global visibility of national scholarship.
