As previously reported, within the framework of a joint initiative between the Academy of Public Policy and Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Agency for Management Efficiency, and the Korea National Institute for Human Resource Development (NHI), the joint retraining programme “Leaders of the Future” for promising young public management professionals is being implemented.

As part of this programme, 15 of the most active participants are currently undertaking an international internship in the Republic of Korea.

During the two-week overseas internship, participants:

are enhancing their knowledge in key areas of public administration, including the application of artificial intelligence technologies in government operations, the development of effective governance systems, strategic and financial resource planning, as well as improving performance outcomes and public welfare, through engagement with leading Korean universities and practicing experts;

special emphasis is placed on modern public governance approaches, innovative thinking, and digital transformation principles;

the programme covers the cities of Seoul, Sejong, Goyang, Buyeo, Asan, and Ansan;

participants are directly exposed to Korea’s “smart city” governance model, digital technologies, industrial innovations, and modern transport systems;

visits are planned to leading Korean IT and artificial intelligence companies, the Institute of Advanced Public Administration, the Hyundai studio in Goyang, the Smart Governance Center in Sejong City, the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center, and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute, allowing participants to become familiar with advanced technologies and the innovative ecosystem.

This professional development programme provides participants with the opportunity to engage directly with Korean experts and consult on the adaptation of successful Korean public administration models to the context of Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that upon completion of the programme, participants will develop and defend project work aimed at advancing their respective professional fields.

The programme, scheduled until 22 May, is implemented with the financial support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
